It allows you to use the appliance by simply removing it prior to lighting your fire (gas/solid fuel). The Falcon Draft Seal, seals the opening, stoping the chimney from pulling heat from your home for the 20 hours a day that your fireplace is not in use. It is painted galvanized metal with a neoperene seal that forms a bond from the Draft Seal to the edge of your fireplace. When finished with your fire, just replace the Draft Seal, stopping your chimney taking expensive heat out of your home.
